“I’ve been involved in the franchise industry for over 25 years. When I began in 1990, I started from the bottom. Over the years I worked in all disciplines: marketing, sales, operations, franchise development and eventually executive positions.
In 2000, I accepted the position of President and CEO of Choice Hotels Canada.
In 2005, I became the President and COO of M&M Meat Shops.
Nine years later, the owner decided to sell the company.
I successfully facilitated M&M Meat Shops' Ltd.’s negotiations, due diligence and sale to a private equity firm.
I developed a very strong working knowledge of most major national and international franchise companies, many of which I also competed against.

“I started my own advertising agency in 1990, after a few successful and award-winning years as Creative Director and Managing Director of prominent Montreal agencies. For over 25 years at Martel and Company, I helped branding, positioning and advertising for several market leaders.
Over the years, I built the reputation of a skilled branding, marketing and advertising professional with large-scale franchise operations.
I had the privileged opportunity to work very closely with many franchise groups, including Honda and Acura dealers for 10 years, Harvey's and Swiss Chalet restaurants for 10 years, M&M Meat Shops for 20 years, Goodyear Tire stores for 20 years, and H&R Block for 5 years.
I am happy to offer this franchise experience, expertise and passion on a more personalized way today, jointly with Gary Decatur and Frank Zaid in Total Franchise Solutions Inc."

“During my 40-year career as a business lawyer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in the firm’s Toronto office, I was involved with over 400 franchise systems in almost every product and service category. I was consistently ranked as the most frequently recommended franchise lawyer in Canada and among the most highly regarded international franchise lawyers. I served as Special and General Counsel of the Canadian Franchise Association, Chair of the Supplier Forum of the International Franchise Association, and the first Chair of the Franchise Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association. I was the initial recipient of the CFA’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
Since my retirement from active law practice in 2012 I have acted as a mediator and arbitrator in franchise disputes and as a strategic advisor to several new franchise systems. I have served as a director of leading franchise companies and franchisee associations, and have invested in both franchisor and franchisee business, giving me an in-depth understanding of franchise business and legal affairs."
